Privacy Policy

Effective 2 October 2026

In short: Tikd keeps your IOUs on your phone. There is no Tikd account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The developer of Tikd does not receive, see or store the people, amounts, notes or photos you enter.

This policy explains what the Tikd app for iOS and Android ("Tikd", "the app") does with information, and is provided by the developer of Tikd ("we", "us").

1. Information you enter stays on your device

The people, IOUs, payments, reminders, groups, notes, signatures and settings you add are saved in a database inside the app's private storage on your device. Photos you attach are copied into the same private storage. This information is not sent to us or to anyone else by Tikd.

Because the information is entered by you, it may include details about other people, such as their names, phone numbers and what they owe. Please only record information you have a legitimate reason to keep.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect personal data. Tikd has no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK and no device identifiers used for tracking. We do not sell or share data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. Purchases and the free trial

Tikd is free for a 30-day trial. After that, adding new IOUs needs Tikd Unlimited (a one-time purchase) or Tikd Monthly (an auto-renewing subscription). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play under their own terms and privacy policies. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. The store only tells the app on your device whether a purchase or subscription is active, and the app stores that status and your trial start date locally.

You manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. "Restore purchases" in Tikd asks the store to confirm purchases made with your store account.

4. App updates

To deliver bug fixes, Tikd checks for updates from Expo, the service used to publish updates to the app. That request contains technical information needed to pick the right update: the app version, platform (iOS or Android), update channel and, as with any internet request, your IP address. It contains nothing you have entered in Tikd. Expo processes it under the Expo privacy policy.

5. Backups, exports and sharing

When you export your data, make a backup, or share a statement, PDF or reminder, you choose where the file or message goes (for example a cloud drive, email or a messaging app). From that point it is handled by that service under its own policy. Backup files contain your full ledger and are not encrypted by Tikd, so keep them somewhere you trust.

6. Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your device using your phone's local notifications. They do not pass through any server.

7. Permissions

Tikd does not access your contacts, location, microphone or advertising identifier. You can change permissions at any time in your phone's settings.

8. Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual people, IOUs and payments in the app. Uninstalling Tikd deletes its database and attached photos from your device. Backup files you saved elsewhere are not deleted by uninstalling; delete them where you saved them.

9. Security

Tikd's data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read and which your phone's own encryption protects when the device is locked. Using a passcode on your phone gives that protection its full effect.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act or New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Because we do not hold any personal data from the app, the data Tikd stores is under your control on your device. If you have a question or a request, contact us below and we will respond.

11. Children

Tikd is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

12. Changes to this policy

If a future version of Tikd adds features that send data off your device, such as optional online sync or sharing IOUs with other people, we will update this policy before that version is released, describe the change in the release notes, and make those features opt-in. The effective date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
